FY01 Per Pupil Expenditures

FY01 Functional Per Pupil Expenditures

Spending is reported on the annual End of Year Pupil and Financial Report by program and by function. The following two tables present per pupil spending by function, first in instructional categories and then in selected non-instructional categories. The amounts reported here are derived entirely from general fund appropriations.

Instructional categories represent two-thirds of all day program spending. In FY01, instructional expenditures totalled $4.896 billion, which was 67 percent of the $7.332 billion spent upon all day program functions.

Teaching--made up primarily of salaries for teachers, aides, and substitutes--accounts for 79 percent of instructional expenditures.
