| Purpose: | The purpose of this federal grant program is to support improvement efforts in schools identified currently as having Priority I status (Chronic Underperformance). |

The priority is to help support the implementation of agreed upon initiatives that address student performance deficiencies still in evidence at these schools and that are articulated in school improvement plans and/or Memoranda of Understanding. |
| Eligibility: | The Department will make awards to schools currently in Priority I status (Chronic Underperformance). |
| Funding: |
Grants will be awarded in the amount of up to $150,000 to each of the following schools.
Matthew Kuss Middle School (Fall River)
Henry Lord Middle School (Fall River)
Dr. William R. Peck School (Holyoke)

| Fund Use: | Fund use must be consistent with the priority described above and may only include costs directly attributable to activities and initiatives that are designed to address ongoing academic deficiencies. |
| Project Duration: |
Funds are available for use from date of approval through August 31, 2009. |
