Adult Basic Education English Literacy and Civics Education

Purpose:
The purpose of this grant program is to strengthen and expand the focus of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instruction to include the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and civic participation, the naturalization process, civic participation, and United States History and government.
Priorities:
The priority is to support programs that integrate English Literacy/Civics instruction and ESOL instruction.
Eligibility:
Eligible applicants are currently funded recipients that have demonstrated satisfactory performance.

Fund Use:
Funds must be used according to the rules and regulations of the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Adult Basic Education Rates System.
Project Duration:
9/1/2008 - 8/31/2009
(Subject to appropriation of adequate federal funds.)
Proposals must be received at the Department by 5:00 p.m. on the date due.

Submission Instructions:
