Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2009

Title I School Improvement Regional Grant Program for Continuation or Follow-On Activities
Fund Code: 323-C

Purpose: The purpose of this grant program is to provide federal school improvement funds to districts to follow up on or provide completion to FY2008 grant activities and to address areas of common need among Title I schools in accountability status. (This grant program is not for new FY2009 school improvement projects; there will be a separate RFP for that purpose.)
Priorities:

Grant funds will provide support for activities that began during FY2008 and would be strengthened by follow up or continuation activities that address the following.

  1. Teacher Content Knowledge

  2. Instructional Practices

  3. Assessment (Interim and Formative)

  4. Non-Academic Student Support Services

  5. Academic Interventions and Supports

  6. School Organization and Culture

Eligibility: Districts and Collaboratives that received FY2008 Title I School Improvement Regional Grant Program (Fund Code 323-B) funds are eligible to apply. (A complete list is attached in Part III.)
Funding: Up to $125,000 is available. The Department expects that these follow-on activities will represent a percentage of your FY2008 grant.
Fund Use:

Fund use must be consistent with the priorities described above and the original grant proposal and may include:

  1. costs associated with professional development and training;

  2. administrative costs associated with management of initiatives;

  3. travel and mileage associated with training;

  4. stipends for district staff working outside contractual obligations;
