| Purpose: | The purpose of this federal grant program is to support the state's largest urban districts and their Title I eligible schools in Restructuring, Corrective Action, or Improvement status by building capacity for sustained school improvement. |
| Priority: |
The priority is to enable districts to build capacity for school improvement through the implementation of specific initiatives as described in the FY2009 Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and each school district. |
| Eligibility: |
The Commissioner's Districts with eligible Title I schools may apply. These public school districts are Boston, Brockton, Fall River, Holyoke, Lawrence, Lowell, New Bedford, Springfield, and Worcester. |
| Funding: |
Amounts will be calculated using a formula based on the district's Title I student enrollment, enrollment of students in schools with state and federal accountability status, and enrollment of students in Commonwealth Priority Schools.
An allocation list is attached that includes only districts whose funding amounts are known at this time; these amounts may be adjusted at a later date. Eligible districts not listed will be notified in the near future regarding their allocations. |
