| Purpose: |
The purpose of this state-funded grant program is to provide funds to current Commonwealth Pilot Schools to support redesign and restructuring efforts as outlined in the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved design plans. |
| Priorities: |
Grant funds can be used to support the following categories that are connected to the schools' original design plans:
development of professional learning communities;
strengthening of instructional practices;
student assessment systems (interim and formative);
academic interventions and supports;
non-academic student support services; or
school organization and culture. |
| Eligibility: |
Schools with current Commonwealth Pilot School status are eligible to apply. |
| Funding: |
A grant award of up to $150,000 is available for Springfield Public Schools - Putnam Vocational Technical High School. |
| Fund Use: |
Fund use should be consistent with the priorities described above, including:
costs associated with professional development and training;
planning activities and administrative costs associated with management of initiatives;
stipends for district staff working outside contractual obligations;
travel and mileage associated with training; and
supplies related to grant activities. |
| Project Duration: | Upon Approval - 8/31/2009
If the grantee intends to use a portion of these funds during July and/or August 2009, the grant application needs two separate budgets (one for Approval date through June 30, 2009, and one for the period of July and August 2009).
The following items need to be submitted.

School Year Program: Approval - 6/30/2009; and
Summer Program: 7/1/2009 - 8/31/2009.
Two Budget Detail Forms Instructions
School Year Program: Expenditures from Approval - 6/30/2009; and
Summer Program: Expenditures from 7/1/2009 - 8/31/2009.
