Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2009

Support to Underperforming School Districts: Randolph Public Schools
Fund Code: 220-E

Purpose: The purpose of this state-funded grant program is to provide supplementary support to the Randolph Public Schools for the specific purpose of piloting a parent engagement program.
Priorities:

These funds are intended to support the development of a Randolph Parents' Academy and Parents' Support Network to be operated by the Randolph Public Schools. The district must be able to demonstrate that the initiatives:

  1. are grounded in current research and have a strong likelihood of measurable success;

  2. address the role of parents in diversity education;

  3. make a clear connection to goals and objectives in the Randolph Public Schools Turnaround Plan (May 23, 2008) approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education;

  4. include the development and dissemination of materials and training within Randolph and, to the extent possible, neighboring communities; and

  5. address the issue of future sustainability in the absence of continuation funding.

Eligibility: Randolph Public Schools
Funding: Funding is available for up to $200,000.
Fund Use: Fund use must be consistent with the priorities described above and may only include costs attributable directly to activities and initiatives that are designed to improve parental involvement and engagement, including: administrative costs associated with management of initiatives; salaries and/or stipends for staff; contractual fees; supplies and materials; rental of space; training; and other costs approved by the Department.
