Competitive Academic Support Services Work and Learning Programs - Summer Program 2009

PURPOSE: The purpose of this state grant program is to provide quality work and learning instruction in English language arts and mathematics to students in the Classes of 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 who have not passed the 10th grade MCAS needed to complete the state required Competency Determination for high school graduation. These services are to supplement currently funded local, state, and federal programs.

RESULT OF FUNDING: This grant will support 12 districts/organizations in their implementation of summer work and learning academic support programs for 868 youth from the Classes of 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 (grades 11 and 12 and post-12th graders) who still need a Competency Determination for high school graduation. Grant awards range from $11,640 to $143,460.
