Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2008

GED Test Center Grant
Fund Code: 850

Purpose: The purpose of this state-funded grant program is to assist in the day-to-day operation of General Education Development Test Centers (GEDTS) including, but not limited to, test administration, scanning/scoring tests, special needs, and issuing required documents for the examinee and the state GED Office at the Department of Education.
Priorities: The priorities for use of these funds must be in the areas of technology, materials, and staffing, including special needs and counseling areas.
Eligibility: Only approved GED Test Centers are eligible to apply.
Funding: Up to $140,000 is available. The maximum amount for which applicants may apply will be sent under separate cover.
Fund Use:

Funds must be used in any or all of the following areas.

Technology

  1. Maintenance agreements as needed for scanner - $400 - required

  2. Computers and internet connections and maintenance

Supplies/Materials

  1. Supplies/materials, including GEDTS contracts/fees

  2. Staff travel and other costs for attending required meetings

Staffing - Specifically for these areas

  1. Special Needs Testing Accommodations hours

  2. Salaries for contracted employees only (No benefits - 1099 forms), specifically Examiners and counseling staff
