Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2008

Perkins - Equipment and Instructional Materials
Fund Code: 409

Purpose: The purpose of this federal competitive grant is to provide funds to purchase up-to-date equipment and instructional materials for career/vocational technical education programs at the secondary level.
Priorities: The priorities are to facilitate teaching and learning using up-to-date equipment and instructional materials in order to increase student outcomes on Perkins Act core indicators of performance.
Eligibility:

Districts with high enrollment and a high percentage* of students in career/ vocational technical education programs and current Perkins Act Local Plans are eligible to apply.

*High enrollment in the district is defined as enrollment of 425 or more students in secondary-level career/vocational technical education programs on the October 1, 2007 SIMS Report. High percentage is defined as having at least 25% of the total secondary student enrollment in the district enrolled in secondary-level career/vocational technical education programs on the October 1, 2007 SIMS Report. Districts may contact Jeffrey Wheeler if they wish to make certain they are eligible to apply. (See Contact Information below.)

Funding: Eligible districts may apply for one grant of up to $40,000. The Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act, P.L.105-332 is the funding source.
Fund Use: Grant funds must be used to purchase up-to-date equipment and instructional materials for career/vocational technical education programs at the secondary level.
Project Duration:

Upon Approval - 9/30/2008

All funds must be obligated by the district by 9/30/2008.
