Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2008

Community Adult Learning Center
Program Service Option 1 - ABE for the Homeless
Fund Code: 340/345

Purpose: The purpose of this grant program is to provide access for undereducated and limited English proficient homeless adults to highly effective Adult Basic Education services.
Priorities:

Priorities are to support:

  1. programs and/or collaborations that provide homeless adults with the opportunity to access a seamless continuum of ABE services;

  2. programs and/or collaborations that can demonstrate the capacity to serve the homeless in an environment that is designed to meet their needs; and

  3. collaborations that demonstrate significant co-investment of homeless service providers and/or Community Adult Learning Centers.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants are currently funded ABE for the Homeless programs.

Fund Use:
  1. Funds must be used to provide rate-based classes to homeless adults.

  2. Funds may be used to coordinate services with a Community Adult Learning Center to ensure that homeless adults have access to a full continuum of ABE services.
