| Purpose: |
The purpose of this state-funded grant program is to provide funds to current Massachusetts educational collaboratives or to institutes or centers located at public higher education institutions to support their regionally coordinative role in convening and supporting multi-district school improvement efforts. Furthermore, this grant program will support educational collaboratives' efforts to develop organizational infrastructure and capacity in data usage and management analysis. |
| Priority: | The priority is to support the activities and functions of regional entities that are acting with and in support of districts that have joined together on a combined school improvement effort. |
| Eligibility: |
The Department will make awards to the following entities in the amounts designated in the Funding section:
educational collaboratives or institutes or centers located at public higher education institutions in Massachusetts that are working currently with a group of districts to plan, propose, and support school improvement activities through the Regional School Improvement grant program;
districts participating in the Regional School Improvement grant program that seek to purchase services that would support the coordination, development, and execution of multi-district school improvement initiatives; and
educational collaboratives seeking to build their infrastructure and capacity by hiring a management analyst who can support data processes and capacity in member districts.

| Funding: |
Grant awards for the following amounts are available to collaboratives, institutes or centers located at public higher education institutions, or school districts:
up to $20,000 each for support, coordination, and planning of multi-district school improvement initiatives and activities; and
up to $40,000 each for embedded management analyst positions within collaboratives that are intended to support enhanced data management and analysis within the collaborative to augment district infrastructure.
Note: Approximately $200,000 in state grant funds are available for this program. |
| Fund Use: |
Fund use must be consistent with the priorities described above, including costs associated with: convening groups of district representatives; facilitation of planning meetings; administrative costs associated with management of initiatives; travel and mileage associated with related activities; and supplies related to the overall grant proposal. |
| Project Duration: |
Funds are available for use through August 31, 2008.
If you intend to use a portion of these funds during July and/or August 2008, the following items need to be submitted.
