Competitive Academic Support Services Work and Learning Programs Summer Program, 2008

PURPOSE: The purpose of the grant program is to provide quality Work and Learning instruction in English language arts and mathematics to students in the Classes of 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 who have not passed the 10th grade MCAS needed to complete the state required Competency Determination for high school graduation. These services are to supplement currently funded local, state, and federal programs.

RESULT OF FUNDING: This grant program will support 13 districts/organizations in their implementation of summer (2008) Work and Learning academic support programs for 1,031 high school students in the Classes of 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 who still need a Competency Determination for high school graduation. Grant awards range from $11,640 to $143,460.
