Vocational Technical Education Framework in Criminal Justice

PURPOSE: The purpose of this grant program is to develop a Vocational Technical Education Framework and a Program of Study Grid for Criminal Justice that will be used for career/vocational technical education programs on the secondary level.

RESULT OF FUNDING: A partnership consisting of several school districts and colleges will develop a Vocational Technical Education Framework and a Program of Study Grid for Criminal Justice that will be used for Chapter 74-approved vocational technical education programs on the secondary level and that may be used for non-Chapter 74 career and technical education programs on the secondary level. The partnership will ensure that the Vocational Technical Education Framework and the Program of Study Grid will include knowledge and skills in courses required for admission to postsecondary education and for high skill, high demand careers within the field of criminal justice. Initially, the Vocational Technical Education Framework and the Program of Study Grid will be used in six districts and will benefit approximately 120 students. However, it is anticipated that additional districts will implement programs in criminal justice in the near future. The grant award is $40,000.
