Even Start Family Literacy Program(FY2008 - Federal)

PURPOSE: The purpose of this grant program is to help families break the intergenerational cycle of under-education and poverty by providing the following services in an integrated approach: early childhood education; adult education; parenting education; interactive parent/child activities; and home visits.

RESULT OF FUNDING: As a result of this funding, approximately 120 at-risk families in four (4) communities will participate in a comprehensive family literacy program that will support parents and their children to achieve state learning and performance standards, and support parents as partners in their child's education. Grant awards range from $221,197 to $294,860.
