| Purpose: | The purpose of the state-funded Exemplary/Compass Schools Program is to recognize and celebrate improvement in Massachusetts schools and to disseminate information and encourage sharing of good ideas and models for success. The program is intended to provide a means for schools that have succeeded in efforts to improve student performance to share their experiences with other schools in the state. |
| Priorities: | The priority of this grant program is to gather and facilitate the sharing of information on improvement initiatives underway in Massachusetts schools that have shown significant improvement in student performance. |
| Eligibility: | Schools designated as Commonwealth Compass Schools in FY2006-2007 are eligible to apply. |
| Funding: | Up to $2,500 will be awarded to each Compass School for work undertaken to provide informational materials and participate in research conducted by the Department. |
| Fund Use: | Schools selected as Commonwealth Compass Schools for FY2006-2007 may use these funds until June 30, 2007. The funds will be used to support continuation of improvement initiatives at the school, including staff development. |
