School Finance: Chapter 70 Program
FY06 Foundation Reserve Program
Announcement of Round 2 Awards
We received requests for nearly $5.5 million in the second round of applications, and we regret that due to funding limitations we were not able to address everyone's needs. The Round 2 awards focused on one-time urgent and/or unanticipated needs. Many districts requested funding for on-going staffing and other operational needs, citing budget reductions and state aid cutbacks. Unfortunately, the pothole program was not designed to provide widespread funding for basic district needs. Such funding is provided through the much larger Chapter 70 program, and we will continue to work with the Governor and the Legislature on proposals to improve the Chapter 70 formula and to ensure that it provides adequate funding for all districts.
The recipients of the Round 2 awards are listed below. Formal award notices will be mailed during December.
