| Purpose: | This federal grant program will result in up to 15 grants that will engage teams of professionals to address 15 Vocational Technical Education Frameworks for currency and further inclusion of embedded academic knowledge and skills. |
| Priorities: | Each grant will support the following:
a team of professionals representing all geographic areas of the Commonwealth constituted as follows:
one facilitator with extensive facilitation experience;
at least five highly qualified technical teachers currently using the Vocational Technical Education Framework (VTEF);
at least three college professors teaching currently in the VTEF program area;
at least one educator with current experience in the development of a VTEF;
at least one academic curriculum coordinator associated with secondary-level Chapter 74-approved vocational technical education programs;
at least three highly qualified academic teachers (one in mathematics, one in English language arts, and one in science);
at least one vocational technical coordinator;
at least one representative from a registered apprenticeship program, if applicable;
at least one expert from the applicable industry;
a lead person from an appropriate industry association, if applicable;
one labor market expert; and
others, as appropriate;
team work in the review of the technical strand of the VTEF for currency;
team work in the further inclusion of applicable academics in the embedded academic strand of the VTEF; and
a team presentation at the Connecting for Success Conference in late June 2010.

| Eligibility: | Partnerships comprised of at least two school districts with current secondary-level Chapter 74-approved vocational technical education programs based on the selected VTEF. One school district in the partnership must be designated as the lead agency. The lead agency must designate an individual to be the partnership administrator. |
| Funding: | A maximum of 15 partnerships will be awarded one grant of up to $20,000 each for teamwork on one VTEF. Funding is from the federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act (Perkins IV). |
| Fund Use: | Funds must be used in accordance with this RFP and the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 P.L.109-270 and the Massachusetts Perkins IV Manual. Funds may be requested for consultant fees, stipends, indirect costs, and travel, including one overnight accommodation at the Connecting for Success Conference, if necessary. |
