Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2010

Perkins - Instructional Equipment and Supplies
Fund Code: 411

Purpose: The purpose of this federal competitive grant is to provide funds to purchase up-to-date instructional equipment and supplies for career/vocational technical education programs at the secondary level.
Priorities: The priorities are to facilitate teaching and learning using up-to-date instructional equipment and supplies in order to increase student outcomes on Perkins Act core indicators of performance.
Eligibility:

Districts/collaboratives with high enrollment* or a high percentage* of students in career/ vocational technical education programs and current Perkins Act Local Plans are eligible to apply.

* High enrollment is defined as enrollment of 425 or more students in secondary-level career/vocational technical education programs on the October 1, 2008 SIMS. High percentage is defined as having at least 25% of the total secondary student enrollment in secondary-level career/vocational technical education programs on the October 1, 2008 SIMS. Districts may contact Jeffrey Wheeler if they wish to make certain they are eligible to apply. (See Contact Information below.)

Funding: Eligible districts/collaboratives may apply for one grant of up to $40,000. The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act, P.L.109-270 is the funding source.
Fund Use: Grant funds must be used to purchase up-to-date instructional equipment and/or supplies for career/vocational technical education programs at the secondary level.
Project Duration:

Upon Approval - 8/31/2010

All funds must be obligated by the district/collaborative by 8/31/2010.
