| Purpose: | The purpose of this federal competitive grant is to provide funds to purchase up-to-date instructional equipment and supplies for career/vocational technical education programs at the secondary level. |
| Priorities: | The priorities are to facilitate teaching and learning using up-to-date instructional equipment and supplies in order to increase student outcomes on Perkins Act core indicators of performance. |
| Eligibility: |
Districts/collaboratives with high enrollment* or a high percentage* of students in career/ vocational technical education programs and current Perkins Act Local Plans are eligible to apply.
* High enrollment is defined as enrollment of 425 or more students in secondary-level career/vocational technical education programs on the October 1, 2008 SIMS. High percentage is defined as having at least 25% of the total secondary student enrollment in secondary-level career/vocational technical education programs on the October 1, 2008 SIMS. Districts may contact Jeffrey Wheeler if they wish to make certain they are eligible to apply. (See Contact Information below.) |
| Funding: |
Eligible districts/collaboratives may apply for one grant of up to $40,000. The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act, P.L.109-270 is the funding source. |

Grant funds must be used to purchase up-to-date instructional equipment and/or supplies for career/vocational technical education programs at the secondary level. |
| Project Duration: |
Upon Approval - 8/31/2010
All funds must be obligated by the district/collaborative by 8/31/2010. |
