Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Alignment Project - Year Two
Fund Code: 264-B

Purpose:The goal of this federally-funded project is to identify and support strategies and resources that increase districts' capacities to improve the quality of education and inclusion of children with disabilities through the alignment and coordination of curriculum, instruction, and assessment from pre-K to grade 3. Year Two Teams will implement 2-3 strategies identified during Year One as a means of strengthening their inclusion practices and building a continuum in the early elementary grades. The teams will continue to bring together early childhood educators, elementary school staff, special education professionals, administrators, and parents.
Priorities:The four priorities for continuing Year Two Teams are to:
  1. implement two to three strategies identified during Year One;
  2. attend networking opportunities to create professional learning communities centered around inclusion;
  3. continue to work with the Office of Elementary School Services to synthesize effective strategies and resources that may be disseminated statewide; and
  4. mentor the new Study Teams (optional).
Eligibility:The 17 districts that received a Year One grant are eligible to apply for continuation funds.
Funding:Year Two districts are eligible to receive between $10,000 - $30,000 based on Special Education Indicator determination and the size of the district.
Fund Use:These funds may be used to support the activities of the Study Team. (See Study Team Guidelines in Attachment A.) Funds may be used for but are not limited to: stipends for a Project Coordinator and/or Study Team participants; materials and resources to support the work of the Team and to implement the pre-K to grade 3 and inclusion strategies; consultants or trainers; professional development; in-state travel; and approved indirect rates.
