Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2010

School Redesign: Expanded Learning Time Implementation
Fund Code: 225

Purpose: The purpose of this state-funded grant program is to provide financial assistance to districts with schools that have increased school year schedules by at least 300 hours beyond what is average in the district for the 2009-2010 school year.
Priorities:

Priorities are to provide resources that support the implementation of approved Implementation Plans in specified schools to:

  1. provide more instructional opportunities in mathematics, literacy, science, and other core subjects to support student achievement;

  2. integrate enrichment opportunities into student learning; and

  3. provide educators with increased opportunities to plan and participate in professional development activities.

Eligibility: School districts with approved FY2010 Expanded Learning Time reapplications and renewal applications that were recommended for funding are eligible to apply.
Funding:

Approximately $15,672,375 is available. Individual district allocations are attached.

Important Note: If the school's October 2009 enrollment figures as reported through the Student Information Managements System (SIMS) are more than 10% below anticipated enrollment numbers noted on the allocation chart, the grant award may be reduced to reflect the new enrollment.

Fund Use: Funds may be used for salaries, stipends, contracts, instructional materials, and other approved expenses associated with operating expanded school schedules.
Project Duration:

Upon Approval - 6/30/2010

If you intend to use a portion of these funds during July and/or August 2010, the grant application needs two separate budgets (one for approval date through June 30, 2010 and one for the period of July and August 2010).
