| Purpose: |
The purpose of this state-funded grant program is to support district implementation of innovative Academic Intervention programs that have been designed in collaboration with a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Department) supported School Improvement Assistance Center to prepare at-risk students to navigate successfully the transition to high school and succeed in meeting high school performance requirements. |
| Priorities: |
Priority will be given to districts with plans to develop innovative student intervention programs that:
provide effective learning opportunities designed to improve student academic outcomes;
engage students in programs not otherwise available to them during the summer months;
address specifically the challenges of 8th grade students transitioning to 9th grade high school environments;
include an embedded professional development component for participating teachers; and
support opportunities for professional collaboration and learning between the participating district and other districts.

| Eligibility: | The Department will make one grant award for up to $25,000 to one district chosen to participate in Year One of this project. |
| Funding: | One grant of up to $25,000 will be awarded. |
| Fund Use: | Fund use must be consistent with the priorities described above. |
