Massachusetts Charter School Dissemination Program

PURPOSE: The purpose of this federal grant program is to provide funds to support the dissemination of effective practices and programs that have been developed, tested, and proven successful in Massachusetts charter schools.

RESULT OF FUNDING: These four grants will support groups of students and teachers in a variety of ways. Grant recipients will be sharing best practices with public school districts that have agreed to partner with these charter schools.

  1. Boston Preparatory Charter Public School will use its grant to fund the second year of a project to provide study tours to schools interested in implementing Expanded Learning Time.

  2. Marblehead Community Charter School will be working with the districts of Marblehead (student population: 3,261) and Winthrop (student population: 2,015) to help teachers create curriculum for integrated standards-based projects.

  3. Marstons Mills East Horace Mann Charter Public School will work with the other schools within the Barnstable public school district (total student population: 4,354) to implement Response to Intervention (RTI) academic support and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).

  4. Prospect Hill Academy Charter School will be working with two Somerville elementary schools (total student population: 987) to implement collaborative inquiry professional development practices.

    Grant awards range from $59,300 to $218,200.
