| PURPOSE: The purpose of this federal grant program is to provide funds to coordinate the Massachusetts Skills USA organization statewide, especially with respect to increasing the participation of students who are members of special populations and to improve the achievement of all students on the Perkins IV core indicators of performance. Funding is from the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act P. L. 109-270 (Perkins IV). |

| RESULT OF FUNDING: Funds will be used to hire a coordinator and program developer who will increase the participation of students who are members of special populations and coordinate statewide skills development activities for all members. In addition, the two staff will develop and deliver services to increase student outcomes on the six (6) Perkins IV secondary-level core indicators of performance. The coordinator will provide technical assistance to staff in the Massachusetts Health Occupations Students of America Organization. Approximately 25,000 students will be served by the grant in 2009-2010. The grant award is $199,960. |
