Community Service-Learning Regional Mentoring Center Program

PURPOSE: The purpose of this federal grant program is to enable experienced school districts to share their Community Service-Learning (CSL) expertise with other districts and to improve and increase the practice of CSL as a methodology for implementing the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, K-12. In addition, funds will support the development of resources for educators interested in implementing CSL.

RESULT OF FUNDING: Funding will support training and professional development for educators throughout the Commonwealth on implementing high-quality CSL. The five regional centers will provide a minimum of 125 hours of training on CSL to over 350 educators, engage up to 2,500 students in the implementation of a minimum of 125 projects, and develop new outreach and curriculum materials to be disseminated to educators across the state. Grant awards are $10,000 each.
