| PURPOSE: The purpose of this grant program is to support the partnership of high-need school districts with course providers to offer technology enhanced professional development courses in the Department-sponsored Content Institutes with the goal of helping teachers close the achievement gap in their schools. |

| RESULT OF FUNDING: Funding from this program will support the 2009 statewide Content Institutes. Ten (10) institutes will be presented in the following curriculum areas: reading; mathematics; science; history; and arts. In these Institutes, teachers will learn how to integrate appropriate technology into the content areas. The Institutes will be offered during the spring and summer of 2009 and will include follow-up sessions in the fall and winter to support implementation in the classroom. Institutes will be available to educators statewide and will be offered online or face-to- face in locations throughout Massachusetts. The implementation of this program will serve approximately 250 educators and 6,000 students. Grant awards range from $20,659 to $74,595. |
