Fund Code: 150-B
Title II-B: Massachusetts Mathematics and Science Partnership Program - Increases

TOTAL INCREASE AMOUNT: $116,364 (Federal)
PURPOSE: The purpose of this grant program is to improve student achievement in mathematics, science, and technology/engineering, primarily through intensive, high-quality professional development activities that focus on deepening teachers' content knowledge and skills. This funding will be used to expand the partnership programs' professional development and capacity building initiatives that include: mathematics or science concept mapping aligned with the state frameworks; analysis and evaluation of student and teacher growth data; and additional content courses.
RESULT OF FUNDING: These increases will provide additional funding for three mathematics and science partnerships that include high need school districts, mathematics and science departments at institutions of higher education, and other partners. These partnerships will involve three school districts and an additional 100 teachers who are teaching mathematics and science currently. This summer program will enhance and extend the courses and programs offered primarily to upper elementary and middle school teachers as part of the existing Title II-B grants. Increases range from $16,364 to $50,000.
