Alternative Education Program for Suspended and Expelled Students and Other At-Risk Students

| PURPOSE: The purpose of this competitive grant program is to assist school districts with establishing and expanding district and inter-district middle and high school level Alternative Education programs that service students suspended or expelled from school and/or students at-risk of educational failure due to truancy or dropping out of school. |

| RESULT OF FUNDING: The funding will support the creation or significant enhancement of Alternative Education programs for at-risk students in three (3) districts. Approximately 57 students from the three districts will benefit from the grant funding for Alternative Education. Grant funds will be used for program: coordinators; teachers; support staff; consultants; and supplies. Grant awards range from $40,000 to $75,000. |
