| PURPOSE: The purpose of this grant program is to provide incentive grant awards to Massachusetts Reading First districts that have demonstrated an increase in student reading achievement for each of two consecutive years. Funds will support training to Reading First schools across the state. These funds are given to districts that meet specific federal requirements and are in addition to other Reading First funds going to a district. |

| RESULT OF FUNDING: The award will support the implementation of the Massachusetts Reading First Plan in the designated district as well as provide professional development opportunities for all of the 92 Reading First schools in 42 districts across the state. Approximately 25,000 K-3 students will be provided improved reading instruction as a result of this grant. The grant award is $408,500. |
