PURPOSE: The purpose of the federally-funded Comprehensive School Health Education Assessment Trainer program is to:
provide classroom health education teachers with the knowledge and skills to assess students in health education classes;
provide classroom health education teachers with the resources and materials to aid in the implementation of standards-based health education assessment;
build the capacity of classroom health education teachers in using rubrics to measure outcomes of student learning; and
build the capacity of school communities to provide effective, assessment-based health education for all students.

| RESULT OF FUNDING: Funding to support two (2) Comprehensive School Health Education Assessment Trainers is being awarded. Each recipient will be responsible for providing training on health education assessment to teachers from across Massachusetts in coordination with Department of Education staff. Approximately 80 health education teachers from at least 30 school districts will benefit from this funding. This funding will provide professional development on knowledge and skills to assess students in health education classes. Grant awards are $2,500 each. |
