Perkins IV Tech-Prep Transition 2007-2008

PURPOSE: The purpose of this competitive grant is to provide funding to consortia of schools and colleges to facilitate linking high school career/vocational technical education programs with college and registered apprenticeship career/vocational technical education programs.

RESULT OF FUNDING: Grants will assist nine consortia comprised of 97 high schools and 33 colleges in developing Program of Study Grids for each career/vocational technical education program within the high schools. In addition, grant funds will be used to develop and institutionalize systems of career planning and college advising and/or mentorship services for students enrolled in career/vocational technical education programs. Early college placement testing will be provided to high school students. Systems will be developed and institutionalized for ensuring that articulation agreements are kept current. Approximately 25,000 students will benefit ultimately from the grant. Grant awards range from $80,500 to $201,000.
