Technology for Data Driven Decisions (TD3)

FUNDS ALLOCATED: $93,257 (Federal)
PURPOSE: The purpose of the grant program is to support school districts to partner with the Massachusetts Department of Education in pilot projects that use technology to collect, manage, and analyze data to inform and enhance teaching and school improvement efforts.
NUMBER OF PROPOSALS RECOMMENDED: · One new grant is recommended.· One currently funded grant is recommended to receive an increase.Note: Seven (7) proposals were approved at the August 2006 Board of Education meeting.
RESULT OF FUNDING: This funding will support an additional district to participate in the Formative Assessment Pilot Project. It will also provide increased funding for a currently funded district to include additional schools in participation. As a result, this two-year project will support a total of 22 middle schools in eight districts to participate in Phase II of the pilot project for the assessment and instructional data system Galileo Online. This system helps teachers, administrators, parents, and students identify trends in student learning, improve classroom instruction, and ultimately raise student academic achievement. The eight (8) funded projects will impact approximately 800 educators and 16,000 students. Grant awards range from $33,257 to $60,000.
